Ghost in the Shell
Masamune Shirow created Ghost in the Shell as more than just a spy thriller set in the future. It is an existential quest for meaning in the present day. Technology-related crime is on the rise, and it is up to the Japanese National Public Safety Commission to crack down on those trying to merge humanity and technology. This is not only a critique of the world we live in, but a social commentary on where we may be going as a society.

i friggin' love GITS! i saw the forst film ages a go, and since then i have seen everything. i recon that the best of all of it has to be the last few episodes of GITS-SAC-2G, where the tachcomas sacrifice their lives, it made me cry, it was so sad. but then GITS-STC-SSS was quite cool as well...
